Why Is It Important to Hydrate After Massage Therapy?

Image
Hydration after massage therapy is a  bigger deal than people think —and not just a feel-good add-on. Here’s why it really matters, in plain language: Helps your body flush waste Massage increases circulation and lymphatic flow, which helps move metabolic byproducts (like lactic acid) out of muscles. Water supports your kidneys and lymph system so that stuff actually  leaves  your body instead of hanging around and making you feel sore or sluggish.  Reduces post-massage soreness & headaches Dehydration can make muscles more prone to stiffness and cramps. Drinking water after a massage helps keep tissues supple and can reduce next-day soreness or those “massage hangover” headaches some people get.  Keeps muscles elastic and relaxed Muscles are mostly water. When you’re hydrated, they stay more pliable and respond better to the work you just had done—meaning the benefits of the massage last longer.  Supports circulation & nervous system recover...

Massage Etiquette

Image
Good massage etiquette is essential for ensuring a positive and professional experience for both the client and the therapist. It involves respect, communication, and consideration, and it helps create a comfortable and effective environment for the massage. Here are some key aspects: Arrive on Time : Being punctual shows respect for the therapist's time and ensures that you get the full duration of your session. Arriving late can cut into your session time and disrupt the therapist’s schedule. Active Stretching

Image
What is active stretching? Active stretching is a method of improving flexibility. It involves active contracting of one muscle (the agonist) as a way to stretch an opposing muscle (the antagonist), with no external force. Active stretching is also often referred to as static active stretching — which means nonmoving — because the end position of the stretch is held for a set amount of time. But instead of holding your stretch using a prop, such as a strap or band, you’re simply holding the stretch with other muscles. This is why it’s called static active stretching. These stretches are commonly held for 10–15 seconds. Any longer tends to be quite difficult.  One example of active stretching is lying on your back on the floor and lifting a straight leg to the ceiling until you feel your hamstring stretch.  Holding that position without a strap requires active work from your  hip flexors  and core to keep your leg in the air, while your hamstrings — the muscles...

Orange Essential Oil Benefits That Go Way Beyond a Crisp Scent

Image
BY KORIN MILLER Orange essential oil regularly shows up in scented candles and perfumes, thanks to its crisp, zesty, and refreshing aroma, but there’s more to the compound than what meets the nose: Research has shown orange essential oil benefits are broad, including being able to help ease stress and combat acne. Before we get ahead of ourselves with intel about orange essential oil benefits, though, let's get back to basics.
